Drendobium Kingianum
Spotted while out and about in Franschhoek. A simply stunning example of the orchid genre in a rare white form. Largely put in the blog because of my mother's love of all things white and green.
Dendrobium kingianum or Thelychiton kingianum, commonly known as Pink Rock Orchid, Captain King's Dendrobium, or (somewhat misleadingly) Pink Rock Lily, is a plant of the genus Dendrobium and native to eastern Australia. It was named after admiral Phillip Parker King, explorer of Australia.
Dendrobium kingianum grows naturally on rocky surfaces and occasionally on tree logs, flowers in spring or late winter. The shade of the flowers is usually pink and rarely white
